Our first OPTIKA - New Perspectives magazine from May 2018. We distributed over a 1000 copies throughout the UK and some destination abroad. Now there are less than 20 left. We were all over the moon when we had the first copy in our hands. Timed with the Ginnel Foto Fest it was all last minute.
Optika #1 comes in A4 size with 16 full colour pages. Printed on 130gsm silk coated paper it makes an elegant impression. Content and production made this a truly international colaboration - just the spirit that we love so much. Printed in London we had help for the design and layout by the wonderful Columbian illustrator and designer Catalina Carvajal.
Contributers to this issue came from across the world. Lee thornberry from Ipswich, Tony Page from Braintree, Geoff Buono from Colchester and award winning Will K Davis from Wivenhoe were the local photographers. From Japan we were honoured to have Kosuke Okahara with a great feature interview about Fukushima Fragments and his work in general. He was joined by the fantastic Vilho Nuumbala from the Namibian capital of Windhoek.
The critical essay was contributed by Dr matthew Bowman, Art History lecturer at University of Suffolk and Colchester School of Art.
Proceeds of the sale go to Ginnel Foto Fest.
